IMPARQT Associates is a home-grown architectural practice evolving in tandem with the building of nationhood. Founded in 2010 with a deep concern for the built environment and the need to create responsive architecture of excellence, it aims to enrich the human experience and spirit through its planning and architectural works.
Founded by two Architects, formerly practicing with highly exposed firms, we have generated and participated in many significant projects over more than 16 years of continued operation; yet the process of critical self-renewal remains in our culture as we seek to stay meaningfully relevant to the society we serve.
Through a strong commitment to design excellence, we aspire to make our imparqt (read impact) on the global stage by making significant contributions to the field of architecture and to the design environment, with the aim to improve the quality of life of the people who enjoy our work - This is our bold vision.
"Architecture should talk, and sing too."
We believe buildings should be timeless and inspiring, yet practical for both their owners and occupants.
We believe in the power of design to elevate people's lives and we are committed to doing everything necessary to deliver environments that outperform our clients' expectations, now and in the future.
We are a client-based design practice. The story of our projects, whether a 90,000-square-foot shopping mall or a pool-side gazebo, is told through the conversations we have with our clients and the particular chemistry of the sites upon which we build. The results are portraits of our clients, as diverse and individual as they are.
Underpinning our practice are professionalism and sustainability in the widest sense. We work as a relatively small, close-knit team with a carefully chosen number of projects, enabling us to offer an exceptional level of service to our clients.
From single-family homes and tiny artists' studios to corporate headquarters, commercial, educational and institutional facilities, we go to great lengths to ensure that our buildings are energy-efficient and environmentally conservative.
As green architects, we make sure the materials and products used in the construction of our buildings contribute to ecological restoration, and that both interior and exterior building systems and materials are non-toxic to the environment and to the people who inhabit them.
As modern architects, we also embrace the spirit of regionalism. We believe every structure, regardless of size or budget, should be specific to its place – to its natural geography, climate and culture. So we make every effort to use materials responsive to particular climates and settings – the "sticks and stones" of a region – so that even the most modern, cutting-edge architecture maintains a strong sense of place specific its landscape, client, and region.
At Imparqt Associates, every building and every site is as individual as its client. And we firmly believe that the best buildings grow from the individual needs of the client, if only we take time to listen.
As contemporary architects we utilize state-of-the-art technology, yet our firm is intentionally small to allow each member of the project team to work closely and personally with our clients. We also make it a practice to assemble a team of the best possible consultants specific to each project.
We are committed to delivering high-performance and sustainable communities, buildings and environments that exceed client expectations, contribute to human well-being and enhance the health of our planet.
Our profound commitment to sustainability --- to green architecture – ultimately rests in our conviction that architecture should make a didactic as well as physical contribution to the community.
Blending innovation and pragmatism, we take multiple perspectives to tackle the unique needs and challenges facing our clients and the sectors in which we operate. In a dynamic technological and business environment, we simultaneously address immediate needs while envisioning and planning for the future projects that meets the interests of all stakeholders.
Our approach includes considering passive energy strategies that reduce the complexity of mechanical and electrical systems while enhancing the quality and performance of the building.
Eight iterative steps that provide a roadmap for any team, on any project, anywhere
Our Integrated Design Process involves eight iterative steps that provide a roadmap for any team, on any project, anywhere. By encouraging structured collaboration with all project participants, we find the optimal solution for every problem. This approach enables us to establish and monitor costs from the initial project feasibility through to the final design phase. If costs go up, we know immediately that we are going in the wrong direction and can adapt and simplify the design accordingly.
Allows the team to begin to understand the external impacts on the development including the physical aspects (sun, wind, biomass, water, shading, local eco systems) as well as the contextual impacts (social and economic), and to use this understanding to arrive at an optimal massing for the development.
Is the point at which the team looks at how the development might maintain, enhance or regenerate the natural eco-systems intrinsic to the site. Solutions for innovative use of water and the creation of green space are developed.
Is when the development truly begins to take shape. Roofs, walls, windows and features are defined and modeled in response to the optimal massing and site design developed in the earlier stages. The dynamic effects of the forms are modeled.
Optimizing natural lighting strategies and integrating efficient power systems to reduce energy consumption while maintaining optimal functionality.
We involve the whole team working together to create living breathing buildings. We create beautiful spaces sculpted by natural daylight and fed by fresh air. We eliminate complex systems and replace them with architecturally integrated components that will last for the life of the building with very little maintenance creating buildings that are healthier and more comfortable and far more energy efficient.
Utilizes our in-house expertise in evaluating substantiation of materials claims regarding toxicity, third party certifications, manufacturing policies and component lists. We also incorporate art and cultural artifacts to support and reflect community.
Is an integral part of our practice. Every project is carefully peer reviewed and documented to ensure that the knowledge developed during the design phases is transferred through to the construction and operational teams. In this way we preserve the high levels of quality developed during the design phases over the life of the development.
The principals of Imparqt Associates have completed projects in the areas of leisure and tourism, scientific and medical facilities, commercial buildings, technically oriented and residential schemes. The practice is gaining a reputation for building design which satisfies client's requirements, offer commercially viable design solutions on difficult sites, integrate successfully into their environs and is appreciated by building users, the general public and local authorities.
